First snow of the season

I will openly admit it:  I am a sucker for a snow day!  Today marked our first snow of the season, and this clan wasn't missing the opportunity to get out and experience it.  We took a stroll around the block and enjoyed the novelty of the early winter weather!

When life gives you lemons...

... you must be 14 weeks pregnant!

As I've mentioned before, in spite of the textbook discomforts of pregnancy, I am really feeling better able to cope and appreciate the experience of being pregnant with this go around.  As I did during my time while cooking Emma, I am again receiving the weekly updates from BabyCenter.com, which give me a clear sense of what's happening in Number Two's development.  One fun aspect I particularly enjoy is that each week baby is compared in size to a fruit or vegetable.  Today, at 14 weeks gestation, Number Two is apparently the size of a lemon, and weighs approximately the same weight as a U.S. quarter!  Coming along nicely, little one!

Now that I'm officially in the 2nd trimester I did a trial run in not taking my anti-nausea drugs this weekend, and it was a great success!  Two days now with no Unisom, and not a bit of morning/all-day sickness in sight - a huge relief.  I've also noticed a slight return of my lost energy in the past week.  Although I'm not going to be running any half marathons again anytime soon, its nice to be able to stay awake past 7:00 PM without a struggle.  I even stayed up until 10:30 on Saturday night with Kurt to watch a movie - check me out!  So to all of this I say a hearty "Welcome to my life 2nd trimester - I would hug you if I could!!"

Halloween

We felt Halloween this year was truly Emma's first Halloween.  This year she had a full understanding of what Halloween was all about:

1.  You dress up in a funny costume.
2.  You go to stranger's doors and say "trick-or-treat," and they give you CANDY!

After she decided on her own that she wanted to be a bee for Halloween, we made plans with our good friends the Carneys to spend Halloween with them in their super-awesome, family-friendly, Halloween-festive neighborhood.  After a couple of practice runs with Matt, Emma took to the street with enthusiasm, hitting somewhere around 15 houses before she announced she was done.  We were quite impressed with her stamina, and it made me feel like a kid again to see the excitement of Halloween through Em's eyes!

Results

Got the results back for the 1st Trimester screen, and they couldn't have been better!  Keeping in mind this isn't a diagnostic test, but rather a risk assessment, the results showed there to be a less than 1 in 10,000 chance Number Two may have the chromosomal abnormalities tested for.  The nurse who called with the results said "While of course the risk is not zero, these are the best results you could ask for!"
